Black Lions Newfoundlands

Hi, I'm Daniela Popescu. My love for the Newfoundland breed started about 20 years ago, when I have visited my native country, Romania. It was then and there that I saw him! The most Magical Creature that had ever walked this Earth! The Newfoundland! He was breathtaking, from his stature, his posture, his massive features, head and body size, kind and dignified look on his face, his soulful eyes, shiny, rich, and beautiful coat…there was nothing like him that I have ever seen before. I was instantly drawn to him, as it’s nearly impossible not to connect with a Newfoundland once you happen to see one. Ever since that day, I’ve been dreaming of having my own Newfoundland. And once you have one, you want another…as you fall in love with their sweet temperament, dignity, playfulness. They bring so much love wherever they go, they are almost human in how they interact with people, and how “they talk” to you through their gestures, actions and a variety of sounds and barks to explain their wants, needs, likes or dislikes. 

In 2020, together with my son, we were lucky enough to welcome Zor - The Black Lion, to our house. I will always be in love with this boy…To me, he’s not only a Newfoundland…he is a God…a true, majestic…Newfoundland God!...

I am almost positive that all Newfies’ owners feel the same way about their pups. And once a Newfie parent, you will never consider another breed!

Time went on and my eternal love for Zor transformed into a strong desire for other people and families to experience this type of bond and affection for a “majestic creature”, as someone endearingly once called my Zor. I had decided to select my Newfies only from renowned European and International breeders. All of them are imports from multi-Champion lines, and sought-after International kennels and breeders, like King of Helluland (Slovakia), Kazko Slupski (Poland), Nandobears (Germany), Tender Ebony (Romania), Super Premium (Siberia, Russia). 

All our Newfies are AKC Registered and OFA Health tested CHIC. Our breeding program follows OFA guidelines, to pair and match for the best qualities in both health and temperament outcomes. Not all our dogs are, however participating in the breeding program, but all are part of our family and treated with unconditional love and care. They all live inside our home, together with us. 

We are proud members of the local Newfoundland Club of Seattle, as well as the Newfoundland Club of America. We have participated in many AKC local dog shows, we have won rewards, and we are working towards championships. We are working on training for Draft competition (we own a couple of carts), and we take our Newfies family swimming or strolling and playing in some very picturesque parks and beautiful Pacific Northwest scenic sites. Our dogs are being trained by my son, and they are happy and well-adjusted to our family lifestyle, to children and people.
